Event Info

May 01, 2012 2:00 PM - Ocean Explorers Turned Ocean Interpreters
Rhode Islanders know that protecting the ocean helps us support industries that are critical to the Ocean State's economy, like fishing and tourism.
But protecting the ocean is no small task -- and our efforts are most effective when they are informed by the work of ocean experts and researchers. That's why we're glad to welcome three renowned ocean explorers to the University of Rhode Island for a free, open-to-the-public event on May 1st.
At this event, you’ll hear from the host of PBS' Saving the Ocean series, Dr. Carl Safina, as well as two National Geographic Emerging Explorers whose ocean research is influencing the future of ocean conservation.  Senator Whitehouse, who successfully included legislation to create a National Endowment for the Oceans in a recent Senate bill, will also be on hand for this event.
Please RSVP below.
